It would be more embarrassing if more of our educated masses pay astute attention to our PM's speech this year, compare it to the transcript last year, and list down all the incomplete promises, and write a letter to the ST forum page/TODAY paper and/or post it on their blogs.

One could even highlight which are repeat promises that take advantage of our memory lapses.

It's a pity only a handful actually ferret out the 'talk from the walk'. Cool

As usual, that time of year has come, and there will be another one of those Rally - I call it TCSS. And it's always the same old song, in the same old tune.

Today, 2 days to National Day, I Looked out my window and I can see just one or two flags displayed outside one or two balconies of the opposite block. My block itself, has only ONE flag displayed, and as I look further into distant estate visible from my window, I see NO flags displayed.

Some 10 years ago, ONE WEEK before National Day, there will already be flags hung up EVERYWHERE, and at EVERY block.

Can we see the difference? Do they ever notice?? Will they ask themselves WHY?

No, we do honor our country. We do not believe in violence. We will only NOT favor your views and policies until what needs to addressed or reformed are addressed and reformed. Not just in speeches and Rallies.

Since 1997, I have been waiting for improvements they said they will bring about - instead, life is becoming a nightmare even for the heartland General Practitioners! If even doctors have trouble making ends meet, what of lowly paid workers????

Please, enough talk. Do the WALK!

You hit the point I am trying to do.

As of any meeting as Rally is also a form of meeting, there must be a report card of what had happen and what had not done. What went wrong and what needs urgent attention and needs to be fixed.

Then the next in the agenda can then be discussed and the things there would be a flow and follow up action from the year before on top of the plans this year to aim for the goal. only when someone bother to track and trace, then we see a strategy, flow and goal. Then people can bring up what had been missed, what was not done. Then the policies for the whole year need to be matched back to the rally speech as that sets the tone for the year.

I am not perceptive but I noticed from the previous year speech, the entire working class was blah over - as if the working class is not really that important. In addition, I noted that the HDB under Mah is getting smaller while keeping the same pricing. I wonder if it matched the policy to encourage people to have kids or have affordable homes still stands. Lastly, cost of living had just risen ever higher while the economy is still yet in full swing.

Its not so simple as to talk about it and then forget about it next year. This kind of scatter strategy - don't need a million dollar salary person to work out. My office janitor can plan better.

Its true that we cannot trust the words that come out of lawers, politicians and many other professions. But if there is no one holding these people accountable while that take our tax money to spend on wasteful projects and pay themselves high salaries. Then who are we to cry and whine when they did not fulfil their job and still keep voting them back with strong mandate. If we abdicate that responsibiltiy of being a citizen, then expect these politicians to treat themselves as elites, foreigners 2nd class and locals as 3rd class citizens.

I wonder why our alternatives didn't analyse this point by point and question the ruling party, 'ruling party' style.

After all, the men in white are so fond of marginalising the alternatives, saying they cannot deliver on their promises, that their words are empty (Wong Kan Seng and Mah Bow Tan come to mind).

Perhaps we should see how they respond to the same line of question and how they 'mitigate' their way out, as they always do...
